Re: Battery Prices
What about Exide or interstate, any good? I don’t have any cores. What do they charge for that?

Re: Battery Prices
I central AL, you can get 6 - 6 volt crowns for $540 Total w/tax, 4-12v crowns are $600, 8 volt crown are $675, and a very good 8v superlux set is $620. Superlux is a relatively new battery made in Kentucky, but will become much more of a player in the near future.

Re: Battery Prices
I’m in the market for batteries in Houston, TX. The prices quoted for T-875 are $143-$160. US Battery is $140. These prices are with core exchange. I’ve called shops in Austin and T-875 are $115, but that’s 2.5 hours away.
I may hold out until Nov/Dec to see if the distributors in Houston get motivated to sell at a discount. |

Re: Battery Prices
I have bought batteries from these guys before, just ALWAYS check the "stamped date" (in the post area) on any battery you buy...do not trust the "sticker"....
Expect to pay $ 25-35 each core charge without trade ins.... https://houston.craigslist.org/snw/d...701209227.html Im not in Houston any longer, but you shouldnt have any trouble finding a good deal on batteries... do your searching.. Good Luck ! |

Re: Battery Prices
I'm running a 42V system (7x6V) and bought the premium grade Exide GC-145 (6V-245AH vs the 6V-225AH of a T-105) batteries for a whisper under $150 each without trade-in cores, through Rural King back in Nov-2012 and they are still running strong. Of course they have been in on charge or float charge, or in use since day one.

Re: Battery Prices
Let's just say it isn't the best idea, but it is a viable idea if done with the understanding the life expectancy of first six 6V batteries may be shortened when two more 6V batteries are added and the two added 6V batteries are sacrificial items to be replaced at the same time as the first six.
