After putting a jumper from the Neg. on battery pack, I found the red wire to be hot.

Question #1 .... I assumed some of the wires in the dash would be a neg but have not found it. Am I missing it or none there?

#2 ...... is it necessary to run a neg. from battery pack or can it be grounded near dash and still get accurate V reading?

Yes, that is quite common. The Battery warning light will only have negative when it is in alarming mode so yeah run a 18-14gwire from the battery pack main - to your meter. Just like the install instruction show

I swear first thing everybody does when they open a package is toss the instruction aside and start trying to figure out how to operate or install whatever was in the box on their own

But I DID read the info to check for any mention of +/- accuracy of the meter, but did not see it. In general it has been +.1 or +.2V higher than my ($25)multimeter. Anyone have any info on accuracy compared to a top notch multimeter?

1/10th of a volt is the advertised tolerance...close enough for golf cart batteries.

I suspect both the meter and my multimeter are a LITTLE off. Meter reading 51.5V and multi reading 51.2V on US batteries that should be 51.3Volts.
