Help identifying a part
Came off of a ‘99 resistor DS...any idea what it is? It hooked to the solenoid but doesn’t have an output [emoji2373] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Help identifying a part
Did the cart catch on fire? lol she looks a little burnt.
The sticker on the side have any numbers or a name/manufacturer on it? If the housing is ceramic it could be a resistor, or maybe a capacitor. |

Re: Help identifying a part
LoL well the cart WAS only running off of one speed due to burnt and broken resistors. The sticker on the side is too faded to get any info off of it. I replaced all the resistors, v-glide and solenoid and within one test ride the solenoid welded itself closed. Took this part off and replaced the solenoid with another and so far so good. Re: Help identifying a part
Are you sure that's a 1999?

Quote:
The resistor carts always have current running through the solenoid contacts when they open/close so Club Car used a snubber circuit on the contacts. |

Re: Help identifying a part
Not sure I’ve ever heard of that but thanks Sergio! What exactly was the purpose of that? And could that have caused premature failure on the solenoid?

Re: Help identifying a part
It is used to suppress the arc formed when the Solenoid Opens/Closes under load.
I don't know if they still sell them, there is no way to test them so typically they were replaced with the Solenoid. As long as you only change FNR directions or turn the key switch OFF while the pedal is UP, there should not be too much wear on the Solenoid contacts to warrant a snubber circuit. The diagram below shows it installed (it is polarity sensitive): |
