Re: Alltrax Settings Questions

I also experienced this mid-high throttle cycling when I tried to follow Sergios recommendation to improve performance by differentiating between low and high speed regen. Your description is exactly the way I would also describe it. My cycling occurred after I raised my Max Regen Armature Amps higher than the Max Regen Battery Amps. I found that by keeping them both the same, between 110 and 140, the cycling was minimized or stopped. I will also note that my motor is not stock and is an AMD 7144. I also drive very aggressively on hilly roads. Lastly, I don't use an FN2 because it seems unnecessary. Last edited by 1sharphook; 02-23-2020 at 09:09 AM.. Reason: clarity |

Re: Alltrax Settings Questions
That is a very good observation and something I never considered or experienced since my Regen brake is not active while "motoring" (accelerator pedal pressed) as the Regen only activates when I press the brake pedal.
When my foot is off the accelerator and the brake pedal is pressed, the system works as I had described with those settings and the Regen brake intensity is inversely proportional to the rpm. If the battery amps being lower than armature amps causes issues while motoring as You have noticed, the battery amps would need to be set the same as the high end of the armature amp range setting. Make sure your max voltage setting is also 60-62v so the Controller can provide a good brake experience. At least the Lead Acid batteries give you a great margin to work with, my recent change to Lithium required a different approach to achieve the same Regen brake results I was getting with the lead acid. |

Re: Alltrax Settings Questions
Good information from you both. Thanks. I did two things that helped. I went back to the 120amp max on the regen armature setting (matched my battery setting) and I changed my speed curve back to a more linear line. I think the steepness of the curve at the mid throttle range in Sergios might have been contributing a bit. Maybe my foot isn't able to be completely steady.
Bottom line - it's better but still there. It's less than it was. Will keep tinkering. Thanks again. |

Re: Alltrax Settings Questions
I also upgraded the firmware on the controller to v5. I did that before making any of the other changes. Didn't notice any difference.
