Re: 12 precedent not charging after a zap
The grey wire is negative back to the OBC. This wire is the negative for the relay coil in the charger, when the charger is plugged in the OBC detects voltage on the grey wire and then grounds it to turn the charger on.
It should not show any voltage, except maybe a few millivolts from the sensing circuit in the OBC. I wouldn't expect to see anymore than .1v if that, and even then that depends on the accuracy and resolution of your meter. You can check continuity of the grey wire by finding it in the 6 pin connector at the OBC. Disconnect the 6 pin connector and check for continuity from there to the grey wire pin at the receptacle. If it has continuity, then the wire is likely fine. Then try the test above by grounding the grey wire from the receptacle to pack negative. If the charger turns on and works, then the OBC has probably failed. |

Red wire with a yellow holder? Can you tell what the red wire goes to? Does the red wire show pack voltage?
There is supposed to be a spade connector somewhere within about 12" of the receptacle. It might be inside the wire loom. You can cut it if you have to. It can be reconnected with a crimp connector if needed. |

Re: 12 precedent not charging after a zap
Yeah problem with precedent is you have to jack the cart up and get under if if you want to do any testing with the batteries hooked up.
Not real sure what the fuse goes to, but if the fuse isn't blown, that's probably not the issue. |

Re: 12 precedent not charging after a zap
Keep an eye on the pack voltage while it's charging, unplug it when the pack gets to around 60v.
Smart charger is usually the popular option. A new OBC is like $250 by the time you pay for shipping. A smart charger can be had for around $200 if you look at the ones on amazon. You plug them in and they work, and that's about it. A Lester Summit II is probably the best charger on the market. It takes a few minutes to set up with the bluetooth app. Has different settings for different batteries to get the best charging method, and the best battery life out of the pack. Comes with a 4 year warranty from one of the best companies in the battery charger industry, but it's gonna be in the $350 range. |
