Default Something "popped" while installing new solenoid

Hello gentlemen,
I am new to the forum. I have been doing some upgrades to my 2007 Club Car Precedent. It is a 48 volt system with four 12 volt batteries. I have added a 6" lift and 23" tires. I have the Plum Quick Bandit upgrade on the motor. This weekend I added 2 awg cables. Yesterday after installing the new 400 amp solenoid I hear one click of the solenoid and what sounded like a fuse pop and it will not go now. I have checked all fuses and checked all switches with a volt meter. Key switch is good. F/R switch is good. Jumped the solenoid and it engages. I reinstalled the old solenoid and it is still dead. I may have had the diode backwards when installing the solenoid. When I press the throttle the battery light comes on once and that's it. It won't come on again until the obc is reset. The reverse buzzer sounds when F/R switch is in R. Headlights and everything else work. I'm wondering if it blew the controller and if so would the solenoid still engage with a blown controller.

"I may have had the diode backwards when installing the solenoid."

If the diode was backwards it will damage the solenoid driver transistor inside the controller. It may also have caused the diode to short. You should check the diode before installing another controller. The stock controller does not require an external diode for transient suppression because that is done inside the controller. If you are in doubt about the correct diode polarity or if it is shorted,
you can just remove it.

Yeah. I did remove it when reinstalling the old solenoid. Still did the same thing. So even though the stock controller does not require a diode would it still damage the controller being installed backwards?

Yes, it would destroy the transistor inside the controller.
