Help Solenoid or OBC
Hi,
I am very grateful with such great community (BGW). I have a 48V 96' 6-8v batts My readings are 7.2v each batt, total 42 volts in the pack (actual readings, unable to charge). My cart was running just fine, I tried resetting the OBC just to make the charger stop by it self. Everything went just fine. Charged a cpple of days, and used it and run for a week or so. The other they I tried to used it, and it only moved like an inch or 2" forward or reverse. *** Current Issues: Wont charge Wont run, only an inch front or back. Solenoid no Click *** Testing Done: Re-reset the OBC. (Not charging or running) By passed OBC, Grey wire with fuse, jumped to negative at batt 6. to see if charger will work (Charger turned on for a sec and the shutdown. No run) Replaced Solenoid (No run) Jumpered two Solenoid Post. (runs, no charge) HELP!!!! BTW, thanks in advanced! OE |

Re: Help Solenoid or OBC
Sorry, I can't help with the Often Bad Component, but I will advise you to charge your batteries with an automotive 12V charger before they are ruined from sitting discharged! Take two batteries at a time ( that are connected in series ), + to + / - to - on the 12V charger. Charge each pair for a few hours then switch the pairs. I'll post a chart of what the charged voltages should be. You do not need to disconnect any of your cables to do this!
Here's the chart: I am told you can charge one 8V battery with a 12V charger! I won't recommend this, but if charging them the way I just laid out doesn't bring up your voltages enough to get your charger to engage, you may have to use the one battery charging method. I think " Shadowman " knew how to do this. I'll try and find his post for you. In the meantime, start charging in pairs! You can leave the charger on and it won't hurt a thing! :) |

Re: Help Solenoid or OBC
Thank you for your prompt response, however, my batts are 8v, if I pair them, they are 16v, can I still charge the pairs with a car charger 12v?

Also with the voltages you posted the cart will not budge! We have a few experts on the OBC system ( which I am not ), and they can guide you on the diagnosis and repair of that system. |

Re: Help Solenoid or OBC
ohhh... LOL, well, they are charging already, one at a time, for 20-30mins at 12v@2amp. Will post in 3hrs, when cycle has been completed. Thank you for all your help. :) I am going to grab a beer, cheers...

Re: Help Solenoid or OBC
yes do one battery at a time and do not let it out of your sight in case anything happens, 20 minutes each one, but if your at 42 volts thats more than enough for charger to come on so if your sure charger is ok........replace OBC..........................
