Default Slight Problem with Secondary Clutch

Up to this point I have only been familiar with the recent build on my CC DS 48v. Last night my dad and I were riding around on his 2000 g16 when all of the sudden it started making a pretty nasty sound accompanied by vibration. When we began diagnosing the root of the problem we found this cracked pulley/clutch. With a little research we think it is called the secondary clutch. I would assume it's best to replace the entire thing all at once. Before we dive off and buy on from somewhere I thought I'd check with my friends on BGW for some pointers on where the best place to buy one may be. Perhaps some of the site sponsors? If so, which ones? Like I mentioned at the beginning my experience with golf carts has been limited to electric (and only 7-8 months at that) up to this point. Any guidance is appreciated.

Yep, that's the sliding sheave. OEM Yamaha parts are best, but more pricey. Most any of the vendors will have the aftermarket part. I've had good luck with Golf Cart King.

Did you already remove the the nut that holds the fixed sheave in place? It looks like it's gone. You will need a puller to remove the fixed sheave.

Looks like your belt is shot too.

Thanks Dave. I will pass on the info to info.

I removed the nut and belt before I took the pic. Thankfully we weren't far from home when it finally cracked. We were able to limp home. The belt is brand new and thankfully didn't receive any damage. We were able to easily get the whole assembly off in 15 mins or so. The fixed sheave is worn so he's gonna buy the whole assembly.

See if there's a spacer behind the helix, and not just a clip. Replace the ramp shoes if worn. The ones in the pic are new.

The only thing I can add, make sure you buy gunuine Yamaha parts, or you will be experiencing this again!

first, i cant believe it cracked like that,,, i would look for a cause, you might crack the new one. are you sure the rear end gearing is ok??, even if it spins, it still could be something in the axle or breaks sticking,,,jack up the cart and spin the wheels, good luck

I bought a yami one they are nice and heavy. When they wear out from dust and dirt they also crack and break, the belt wears through them. I found a cut yamaha one to buy, that gives you a lower gear its nice for lifted carts or HS gears. Anyway a cheap one will wear out faster unless you only run in clean areas with the cart. Wow that looks nasty.

I'm going to guess thats not a Yamaha part. Poor casting, or a brand X spring, not cpp or Plowmans.
