Default Re: Have to turn off engine to Shift

I have a '98 txt with a 18hp briggs. I tried everything to adjust the idle/clutch's so I can change gear with the engine running. I tightened the nuts on the shifter cables on teh rear end and that made them pop into gear a lot harder. It worked great for me. It doesn't just sit there and grind any more. It's just harder to flip forward and back but with that Jake's shifter I doubt you'll notice that much difference. I take no blame for any damage done to your cart but mines 3 years strong and running.

Thumbs up Re: Have to turn off engine to Shift

Thanks for the advice,I e-mailed Tom @ cpp and he was great to deal with.He suggested the 09 clutch (I have the 1.25 straight shaft ,honda 24hp.)I purchased a new belt also and slotted my engine mounts to get the proper tension on the belt.I now have a nice possitive shift from reverse to forward. The performance of 09 clutch is amazing.I also have jakes shifter, which is kind cool but I find it hard to find neutral. Thanks for everyones suggestions.
I'am happy camper now.
