Default power loss on hills

Hi Guys, i was wondering if anyone could help me out with what may be causing a serious loss of power going up hills. The cart starts and runs fine, but on steep hills it slows right down below what would be an acceptable speed. it will go up the hill but very slowly. There are no power issues on the flats just going up hill. Its an 85 gas ezgo

Thanks Jim

Make sure your clutches are going to the lowest gear combo (downshifting). If you start up the hill in question from a stand still is the torque better, in low gear?

Hi thanks for the reply. I can feel it downshifting and it will go up the hill, but I would never stop on the hill if I could help it for fear of what would happen when I restarted. Maybee I am just hoping for too much from an older cart?

Measure the length and width of your belt, it may be worn.
