89 starter problem
Had this one up before and still having problems with it ,, have a starter that turns the engine very slowly fot the first 20 to 30 seconds then speeds up to the right rpm to crank it . engine has good compression 105 pounds , new seals , and someone said it was probably a ground problem so I now gave a ground directly from the battery to : frame in 3 places / bolt holding the starter / engine in 2 places / that 6 #4 wire grounds , still doing the same thing changed starter with one that was on a 91 model and having no problem and it does the same thing the old starter was put on the 91 and it is working there fine /// could all this be caused by the fwd/ rev switch begenning to go bad ???? all terminals have been cleaned and retightened on the starter/ fwd switch / battery has been changed ,, I've ran out of ideas ant it's this cart that I use for fence repair .

Re: 89 starter problem
If the Battery checks out good then it sounds like corrosion in a wire or two somewhere. I would replace Battery Cables (you said the ground is new, so I'd leave that one alone.).Also, be sure where they hook up is super clean!! Clean the contacts in the F-N-R- switch. And check the resistance of the other wires. Somethings not letting the full power of the battery to the starter. If that dosen't do the trick, then I'd start checking the wires around the accelerator pedal switch and maybe even a new solenoid.
