EH 295 RObbin fuel problem air lock?

Problem car runs great for most of the day. Occasionally both hot and cold it won't start after sitting between five minutes and a couple hours. I changed the fuel pump. The brass breather in the old pump had dropped out. With the new pump it ran great for a month. I pulled the carb and cleaned it. Started right up and then within a day the problem persisted. In a random test to see what was going on I pulled the gas line off at the pump and ran some gas into a vessel. The pump worked. The Engine also started with the line off. I have tested this numerous times when the starting problem happens. It has been a temp fix every time. I checked the breather on the gas cap and it appears to be working properly. I wondered if there was some sort of air lock problem. The pump that I bought was an ebay one and it was not top of the line. However I can see it pumping so I don't think that is the problem. Any Ideas.

Try cleaning or replacing the pulse line going from the pump to the motor...
