Question G1 gas cap

My buddy has a G1, the gas cap is cracked like someone put in on too tight. Would it cause the motor to run rough? Does the cap provide a seal to allow fuel pressure to build up? Im an elec ezgo kinda guy, dont know anything about the gas motors. Thanks

Nope the only effect it would have is leaking a little fuel.... If motor runs rough I'd give the carb and good cleaning and throw in a new spark plug and go from there
