Default 2007 YDRA questions

After fixing up and enjoying a G1 I have now become interested in a gas G29. I have an electric '08 Drive now and it has become the family favorite over our '08 Precedent. Both are fully customized and did all the work myself. There is a 2007 gas Drive near me that I could get for around $2500. Price sounds fair but not an exceptional deal. Anything to look out for with this early model? I would rather have a limo style but the $6k price tag is out of the question for right now. Thanks!

The Drives are very nice handling carts. The biggest issue that plagued the early ones was the clutches and how they were set up. The good news is that they can either be reworked by someone like Don Plowman, or they can be replaced with the newer 2013+ versions which completely solve the early issues. I have a 2007 and I had Don rework my clutches, and they shift very nicely now.

I was just over on the plowman site and saw a performance package with reworked clutches. Think you can truly hit 29mphwith it?

If you have larger tires or an 8:1 rear you can. It might be a stretch with the stock tires and rear.

I would try to fit 25's on it but would keep the same rear. Are these engines good or do they need a rebuild after 8 or so years?

These engines have been around for a while. Proper maintenace should last you a long time.

These motors are ~'96 and newer. The majority are all original unrebuilt. They have a aluminum rod with no bearing, the fact that this design can survive tells me some good enginnering went into it. I have seen many come off lease with the original spark plug in place, with no problems (easy to tell, look for threads in the plug terminal, no threads = assembly line spark plug).
