i like the quick disconnect steering wheel Many ways to deter joy riders but few that will stop a determined thief....

I was hoping for a easier solution.. we park at the community center, parks etc.. I needed something that my wouldn't be difficult for the wife. Pulling steering wheels, dragging out chains won't happen on her watch. I was really just hoping for a solution that eliminated the neural position.

your key should stop the joy riders driving off... but I see your worried about the old "put in neutral and park it somewhere nearby" prank.. that is going to take some effort and probably more than one person...

your back to disabling the steering or the wheels...

see if a simple bike cable with built in lock will go through the steering wheel and around something to limit it from turning( roof handle??) those are small and will fit in the glove box when cart is in use.

Without knowing your cart's specific configuration would there be some way to disengage the ignition? Perhaps something as simple as popping off the spark plug wire would make a "would be" joy rider move on to something else rather than attempting to figure out why the cart won't start.

A different thought: Would you be able to wire a hidden switch in the key switch ground somewhere? Simply flipping the switch would render to key switch useless.

You would likely have to put a different shifter or actuator on the trans that did not do neutral.

You could always paint the cart flourescent pink, no respecting kid would ride around in that, and if they did everyone would know whos cart it was.

What would be handy is a steering column out of an old car, with the steering lock in the key. Just turn the wheel when you park and lock it.

In gear it should push easy right since there is very little belt tension.

What about a lock on the brake pedal

hidden kill switch is also an option, I put one on my old G9. just have to tap in before the foot pedal and after the key switch. then find a spot for the switch that can't easily be seen.

seen some where you can modify a cigarette lighter as a switch, or better yet I seen one where someone had a reed switch ( magnet) under the cup holder and put the magnet in the bottom of his beer cozy... remove the magnet and it doesn't go.

also seen one on Utube where a relay was used with a pushbutton switch.. turn on key , push the button it goes, then it resets when key is off. ( the push button should be hidden..

my wife got confused with the battery disconnect screw last year.... I just loosen the green knob and no power... tighten to complete the circuit..

so anything more complex is out of the question for me... since she uses the cart 90% of the time..

And that's a tough order considering that going from forward to reverse, and vice-versa goes through neutral. There's no practical way around it.
