So I figured I had nothing to lose by putting the old Alltrax 300 in, and when I did, the cart tried to go, but only in reverse no matter what direction the lever was in. Maybe something internal in that controller? I don't like the forward reverse mechanism in that cart. Can I replace it with a rocker switch? I would like to try one from a Precedent. Let me know if anyone has tried. Thanks, and I will be ordering ScottyB' s Alltrax 400 kit.

The F/R switch of a DCS can be replaced by a DPDT/Center-OFF switch, such as the one used in a CC Precedent.

There were two F/R switches used in DCS carts, and slightly different wiring is needed for the replacement DPDT switch.
Early DCS carts had a F/R with a diode and was covered with a rubber boot.
Later DCS carts had a metal hockey puck and two microswitches.

Which do you have?

This is the wiring diagram for a DPDT switch replacing the hockey puck type F/R.

Yes, a DPDT switch has six terminals.

The CC Precedent F/R switch is a DP/DT switch. I'm not sure if the terminals are labeled 1 thru 6 as shown in the drawing, but the physical layout is the same.

Here are some pictures of another forum member's cart using an off the shelf DP/DT toggle switch.

Part# FRP CC 4866 has six. It is for a DS & Precedent 48V - 1996 and Up.

You probably have the newer version for DS 2004 & Up or Precedent 2007 & up
