Default Battery question

48v battery pack '09 RXV
I need to install a 12v power plug to run a weed sprayer on my RXV.
Which battery would I hook into the power plug?

Thanks in advance

You should get a separate 12v battery or a voltage reducer to run any 12v accessories. Drawing down one battery unevenly is not good for the pack.

Great thinking!!

I just ordered a 48v to 12v, 10amp reducer from Amazon. $18.58.

Thanks Orangeman!

You need to check the amp rating on that pump. You only ordered a 10 amp reducer. If the pump is more than 8 amps or so, it may not be big enough.

Also, careful with the Chinese models. Check out cartsunlimited for known quality. I believe the units Scotty sells are 30 amp. You may want to consider how it’s turned on as well. Getting one with a trigger wire will save you some wiring hassles.

I also think that the 10 amp converter will be too small to run a sprayer ... other BGW members also caution that the cheap voltage converters tend to not last and it is better to buy a quality one once ! Better to run a 30 amp converter for an 8 amp load (27% loaded) than a 10 amp converter loaded at 80%.

I typically use a stand alone battery to run a sprayer (if you have one kicking around) rather than tax my voltage converter for continuous duty.

Find a few previous posts where cart sprayers have been discussed previously:

I just cancelled the Amazon order for the voltage reducer.
Than you!

Will contact Scotty.

I had a chinese cheapie as well and was reluctant to to pull the trigger on a more pricey one, but I certainly didn't want it to fail and send 48 volts directly to all my 12volt accessories. Good call you made, and scottyb's service is unmatched!!

I use cheap reducers for spot sprayers and accessories. When mine fail they usually put out zero volts.

Then you gotta ask... how many cheapies = 1 good one and what is your time or the inconvenience of failure worth
