36v TXT hot forward reverse
I have a 36v txt. In past year I have installed... New D&D motor, 500 amp alltrax, HD solenoid, HD F/R switch, micro switch....
The cart right now is periodically losing power for about a second, then kicks back in... Almost feels like slipping but pretty sure power is kicking our for a very short period of time. Also noticing the F/R is running very hot. Anyone seen this combination before? Thoughts? Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

Re: 36v TXT hot forward reverse
A long time ago I had a hot f/r cause a fire. I was on my way home from the club (it was late, and I’d been there too long🤭). Thing was loose and worn out. The controller cover ended up catching fire too and warbled the side of the body.
No expert, but guessing yours is loose, out of adjustment or your contacts are bad. One of my favorite upgrades to my series cart was getting rid of that rotary mechanism and getting a contactor. |

Re: 36v TXT hot forward reverse
Maybe it is a loose wire or a bad contact. Look closely and see if any of the 4 Studs are discolored. IF yes replace the unit.
A Sw202 reversing contactor kit might be your best bet. Exchanged emails with a guy who put 4 HD F&Rs on his cart in 1 year. Then he installed the SW202 kit and problem solved. |

Re: 36v TXT hot forward reverse
The contact with what appears to be the S2 wire was slightly loose and slightly discolored. Just tightened it down ) cleaned it up. It isn't running hot to the point of smoking.. just noticed it a bit more than warm when investigating the sudden drop in motor.
Gonna a give this a ride and see what happens. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

Re: 36v TXT hot forward reverse
Ralph,
Here is a "500 amp, 2ga, HD FnR" that was "a little warm"... 2 days after the owner was told to get a HD202 from Scotty......... I've always like the saying.... "You don't have to have studied, or even know of Ohm's Law, but you do have to operate by it.".... True Dat ! |

Re: 36v TXT hot forward reverse
After toasting up three.....maybe four F\R switches, I purchased a SW202 from Scotty. I think that was 3 or maybe 4 years ago.
The original F\R switch is the weakest link in the electrical system. (IMHO) Get a Contactor from ScottyB and your biggest worry will be keeping your beer cold. |

Re: 36v TXT hot forward reverse
Ralph, if your HD F&R runs cool after you tightened up and cleaned your connections, you will be fine just like it is....you can see in my sig my set up....all from carts unlimited, and have been running trouble free for the last 5.5 years. you just need to take the time to check things now and then....don't buy anything you don't need, if the HD F&R works fine for now, go with it, but if/when you need to replace it, the reversing contactor is a good choice.

Just ran it 20 min... Still heating up on at least 2 contactors.

Re: 36v TXT hot forward reverse
Although the intermittent power drop seems to have been fixed by tightening.
