92 Electric EZGO won’t go

The OEM type potentiometer (pot) has 2 leads of 2 wires. 1 set went to the ms on the F&R. When the F&R was put in reverse this ms closed and basically connected the 2 wires together. When this happens the pot's output is reduced by 50%.

You can check all of this with the ohm Ω function on your multimeter.

I put the new controller in and it runs, but speed is reversed. It runs wide open with pedal up and slow with pedal down. The potentiometer checks 0 at pedal up and 5000 with pedal down. I have 37v at pin 1 with key on in F with pedal up.?? Not sure what to check!
