Need charger for RXV
My Powerwise QE finally gave up the ghost last night. Woke up to a tripped breaker and when I reset the breaker the charger made a popping noise and tripped the breaker again. Does this regardless if the charger is plugged into the cart or not. Guess I'm in the market for another charger.
I see on here that a lot of people recommend basically two chargers, the DPI and Yewy. Of these two, which do you all recommend and why? Are there any other brands of chargers that I should look at? Thanks! Brad |

Re: Need charger for RXV
Both are good chargers. The Yewey is the only one currently that offers the float charge option.

They just recently re-designed it and the newest ones do not float.

Re: Need charger for RXV
I see that Yewy makes a Model 1200z (20 amps), which ScottyB has listed on his website, and a Model 2000 (30 amps) which I saw on internet somewhere. Is there an advantage to having more amperage or would the 20 amp one be the better buy?
I plan on emailing ScottyB but does anyone know right off hand if he also sells the 30 amp one? I don't see it listed on his site but from reading posts here he also sales DPI chargers and I don't see those listed there either. My concerns so far regarding Yewy chargers are: 1. Made in China? Not a bad thing I guess but I've always been an USA guy. 2. I see that the Yewy has a fan for cooling. Being that the cart is mostly stored outside in the weather when I'm hunting and the charger is hanging high up under a porch roof, Is it possible that moisture may be sucked into the charger when it's raining outside. That's just moisture from the air as the charger is out of the weather and really not exposed to direct rain. Not sure how the fan works but thinking it blows air outward and not inward? What are the Yewy cord lengths, both power cord and cord from charger to cart? Just curious on this. Thanks for your help! Brad |

Re: Need charger for RXV
DPI is made in USA. The 48V versions I've been having alot of returns on within a year for warranty work, & their customer service IMO is terrible. so keep your receipt.

Yes, I've read of those problems on here lately. Plus someone said that DPI doesn't make one with float charge anymore?
I really don't want to fool with a 31 pound charger either. One reason I'm looking at the Yewy charger. Thanks for your comment! Brad |

Re: Need charger for RXV
Current DPI (Gen IV) doesn't float. It has a maintenance mode however. Yewy hasn't been available very long. No reputation good or bad far as I know.
Take a look at Lester. Very old company (USA). If I were going to buy a charger today it would probably be a Lester "Summit". I think there is a new version out. Can be controlled by your phone. |

Re: Need charger for RXV
I looked at the Lester Summit II which I think is the one with bluetooth communication. It's certainly on my short list but...
1. It's around $100 more than the Yewy. 2. it's weighs about 27 more pounds than the Yewy. Both weight and cost are things I have to consider. My cart is hauled around to different locations and portability of a charger is something I have to think about. I can certainly pick it up and move it but maybe would rather something similar in weight and size to the old Powerwise QE. I could store that one under the seat on the driver side when trailering the cart and it was easier to move it around. More of a preference I guess. That being said, I do like the Lester a lot and will consider it. Maybe if I find one at a really good price it'll certainly sway me. Any sponsors sell them? Thanks for the recommendation! Brad |
