Default Which Alltrax Controller

Can decide on the 48500 controller or the 48600 controller. I have all the upgrades for either one except motor. The question is can you turn the 48600 down for a stock motor untill the funds are available for a new one. We mostly hunt on it where there are big hills. Also going to 42v. The cart is a 2003 series. Thanks and if anyone has done any of this please chime in.

I have never used anything over the 500 amp, and I love the 500. They can all be turned down if you purchase a 600 and want to turn it down for a stock motor.

A hunting buggy is the most challenging. I use mine in the 'hoods. I drove mine to the steepest hill in my area. I let it coast downhill then slammed it into gear. I didn't datalog, but I pulled 500 amps for less than 1 second, then all was good.

I bought a 500 amp controller, as the cost differential was minimal.

If you use it for parades, or hunting, I would buy the largest Alltrax you can afford.

The SR48600 is the big kahuna controller for the biggest tires and biggest loads on the biggest hills.
You can run this with the stock series motor. It will be fine on the SR48600. We used to run them on 650 and 700 amp controllers all the time. Now the SR48600 with it's peak of 680 and sustained output greater than or equal to the old 700s does the job with reverse polarity protection and whole lot more.

If you wanna live with 36 volts, then later upgrade, that's likely the cheapest solution. New FNR, controller, and solenoid. You will need AWG 2 cables.

I couldn't kill my 9 year old Excides, so I bit the bullet nearly 9 years ago. She's downright scary free-wheeling downhill.

I just put the 500 in my cart with upgraded motor, switch and solenoid but it’s strictly for the golf course and tooling around the neighborhood. So far it’s tackled any of the course hills with no problem and even acceleration uphill

500a (570 peak) is by far the most popular choice for series carts.

I totally agree with ScottyB !!

Check my signature, that’s what I’ve been running here in Central Texas.
Haven’t found a hill I couldn’t climb, or when at the Gulf, any beach I couldn’t cruise !!
