Default Help (again) with ML3 - alltrax 500

Can’t get my mode lock 3 working still - I’m getting a ‘user 3 input on’ on all three switch modes. Is this right?

No matter what I set I’m feeling only 2 setting changes.

Don’t know why pics sideways - apologies

Notice how ‘3’ is selected on each key direction

That looks right, the User 3 is Your charger interlock status.

The Normal mode is both User 1 and User 2 OFF, then each respective User (1 or 2) lights up.

Normal, User 1 and User 2. You should set the parameters up for these on the controller page. Something like this

You have 3 options available: Normal, User 1 and User 2.

You can set each mode however You want in this Part of the Program:

Make sure you click the "Set" button on each individual TAB (Normal,User1,User2) to save the settings before changing TABs.

Possible to get an explanation on what each field refers to?

Max motoring
Max Amature
Max Regan

Etc. etc

Thanks

Max Regen Battery Amps=Max amps that the battery will put out to keep your cart from rolling away from a standstill. This is the roll away brake

Max Regen Armature Amps= The max amps that the motor armature will produce when you remove you remove your foot from the throttle while moving. This is the regen braking.

In each case the higher the amps the harder the braking.

In my case I hate regen braking so the regen armature amps are set to 0A

I don't want to come out of the grocery store and find my cart in the middle of the parking lot, so my roll away battery regen amps are set to 65A.

Regen as in Regenerative refers to current being returned to the batteries, not being "put out" by the batteries.

The roll away brake has nothing to do with Regen brake since Regen brake needs the Solenoid to be engaged in order to return armature current back to the batteries.

Roll away brake is "Dynamic Brake" (Field powered and Armature shorted) and as far as I know there is no setting to control it.

The "Plug Brake Current" is the amount of current the Controller will use while the cart is operating in order to prevent it from rolling backwards when you remove the foot from the brake and step on the accelerator and try to go forward. It also prevents rolling if the cart is rolling forward and You try to go backwards.

Alltrax recommends "Max Regen Armature Amps" = "Max Regen Battery Amps", but I have some data from when I tested that relationship as I was building an interface for the Regen brake. I will try to find it later and post more information, but setting them to the same value is what Alltrax recommends.

I use my Regen brake a lot and would never have an electric cart without it.
