Default Long term battery mainrainance

Another newbie question. I'm in Florida for the winter and north for the summer. I only use the cars in Florida. Hows the best way to maintain the batteries over the summer. It's a 2016 RXV.

I'm in the same boat as you. Get someone to charge your batteries at least once a month for you while your gone. Or buy a charger that floats or one that will maintain your batteries when you go back north.

I have a DPI charger that floats but I have been paying someone to charge my cart once a month. I personally don't want to leave for five months with the charger always on. If I wasn't gone it wouldn't bother me.

That's about the conclusionI've come to. I'm kinda ok with the DPI charger, but I wasn't sure it would work with an RXV. I thought I read the charger has to be physically disconnected to reset the charge cycle.

No if you have the Gen III DPI charger it will float. If you have the Gen IV charger it does maintenance cycles.

The last generation DPI chargers would do refloat charging. The new ones do not. The Yewy charger that scottyb sells will do refloat...

I've blown up two boards on my DPI since 11/11/2011, which does float. If I had been away, I never would have noticed, so it's probably a good idea to pay a kid or neighbor to check it once a month.

I put my charger on a timer so it comes on 1 hour a day

Dump the DPI charger, you'll get about a year out of it before it fails.

I use an inexpensive 7 day timer and a dpi float charger. I just dont want to pay for the electricity to run the dpi 24/7.
Twice a week the timer turns on power to the charger for about 8 hours.
