Default Rxv battery hold down

What is this piece for? Is it needed?

It was brutal to get off, but know I have my body off so it can be easier to install.

Thanks

At least one local shop here leaves that part off routinely.

IMO one of many reasons to ditch the 12v for the 8v battery configuration.

oh yes there is not a tougher cart to change the batteries in than the 12v RXV, we charge extra for this swap, this top piece does provide support onto the top edge of the plastic main hold down.
As a golf cart repair shop that charges a premium we always install all OEM components back onto the cart. We are not engineers, we are technicians.

Never Forget those that serve

Ok. My philosophy is I already bought the part so why not. And I had the body off so it was easier.

I put it on and realized it was backward. I did get it right the second time!
