Default Can a PDS go into a thermal lock down mode? Is that a such thing?

I have an 04 36V PDS that’s lifted and after riding a good bit it will shut down and if you let it sit for a few minutes it will go again. Motor temps did reach up to the the 150’s so I’m hoping this is the issue. If not what else should I look for? Any help would be appreciated thank you

Yes the stock controller will go into thermal shut down. When you run a PDS cart at slow speed, with a lift and big tires for long periods of time with the stock controller. It will go into thermal shut down. It will only do this for a certain amount of times before it will die. And you need a new controller

10-4 thanks for the help. Do you know at what point it goes into thermal lockdown? Like does it go by the motor temp? Controller temp?

Controller temp. When you creep around slow. The controller will heat up to the point that is shuts it's self off, when it cool off it will come back on. And one of these time it will not come back on Dead

Run the cart in diagnostic mode and listen for the beep codes when it misbehaves.
The text at the bottom of the attached PDS label tells you how to put controller in diagnostic mode.

------------
The controller monitors the temperature of the M- busbar (called A1 on a PDS controller). It is what is used to heat sink the MOSFETs.

------------
Like the stock PDS controller, the stock PDS motor doesn't like tall tires either.

PS, your reverse buzzer must be operational for the factory diagnostic to tell you anything. Can't tell ya how many times I have hooked it back up, and worked my way through the "laundry list".
