Default 02 TXT 36v to 48v motor

I tried search, but couldn't find anything.

I have a 2002 TXT Series 36v cart. I thought I read somewhere that the stock 36v motor would also capable of running on 48v. Is that correct, or is there a certain stock motor that would run both voltages?

The reason I'm asking is because I need new batteries, and was going to go up to 48v if the stock motor would handle it. I also plan on possibly replacing the stock motor at the end of this year with a 48v system, and don't want to purchase additional batteries.

The stock motor in your 2002 series drive will run on any voltage from about 24V up to around 60V, so going from a 36V battery pack to a 48V battery pack isn't an issue for the existing motor. In fact, the motor will run cooler as well as having 33% more torque and 33% more speed with a 48V battery pack.

Thanks JohnnieB! Is there anything that I would need to replace in the stock 36v system?

To go from a 36V battery pack to a 48V battery pack, you'll have to replace the stock 36V controller and 36V solenoid with units that will work at 48V, as well as getting a 48V battery charger.

An Alltrax SR48400 (or larger) controller is user programmable and will work at 36V for now and 48V later. A MJZ400 solenoid will also work at 36V as well as 48V.

Sounds like I need to get in touch with scottyb for the controller and solenoid.

And charger. Stock txt 36v chargers cannot charge 48v batteries.

I would upgrade all the cables in your golf cart to 2 AWG as well.

That's part of my plan for the refresh at the end of the year. My plan was to replace wires, controller, solenoid, F/R switch, possibly motor, all suspension.

For right now I just want the bare necessities to get a 48v system running.

Controller, solenoid, battery charger and batteries.

Motor, cables, F/R switch and other control switches and control wiring are not voltage sensitive. (Or at least not when going from 36V to 48V)

If you have a voltage reducer for 12V accessories, it is likely to be 48V compatible also, but check the specs.
