Default Club Car Choke

I want to change an older CC to a cable pull choke. Does anybody know where or if I can find the parts to do this?

How old?
Going back to the early 90's, the carb doesn't have a choke plate. The choke is done by blocking the inlet of the air filter box.

Assuming it's older than that, and has a choke plate on the carb, a standard manual choke cable such as for a lawn mower or other power equipment should work.

Then the best thing you can do is make sure the air box is assembled properly, and the inlet tube to the carb doesn’t have any cracks or splits or holes in it. The push button choke is not designed to be held indefinitely the way a cable driven manual choke is. You can flood the engine and severe cause damage by keeping the choke engaged, thus the push button Choke which automatically releases when you let go of it. The method for choking these engines is not to hold the choke down, but more of a push-release action. It may need to be pushed 3-4 times to get the engine to run, but it should start and run normally within about 10-15 seconds.

If you’re having trouble getting the cart to run in cold weather, remove the carb and thoroughly clean it, and adjust the A/F mixture screw out 1/4 turn or so to help with cold starting. A new spark plug with the proper gap does wonders as well.

It really depends on the year of the cart...

The airbox for 1997+ DS's can utilize a cable.
1991 to 1996 DS's with the airbox that sits on top of the battery can not.

It could, but that still operates a choke mechanism in the air box. On a regular cart the push button operates the lever in the same way.

Yes... Yes it does!

For which I think I should ask what oncearacer is looking to accomplish with a cable rather than a button... a stretch maybe???

It just will not start when its gets cold. I have the box off and inspected it but can find no tears or obvious leaks.

Which airbox does it have? The one with the lever on top, the lever is adjustable. Make sure when you push the choke button that it closes the flap inside the box as far as it will go.

If it’s the one without the lever, there is supposed to be an o-ring on the the box where it fits around the cone coming off of the button assembly. If the o-ring is missing the choke button basically doesn’t do anything because it can still pull air in around the opening.
I’m not sure if replacements for that are still available, but you can buy 1/4” insulation roll at most hardware stores. https://m.lowes.com/pd/M-D-1-8-in-x-...iABEgJKqfD_BwE

Cut a section and stuff it into the opening where the o-ring would have been to seal off the gap. You could also tape around it, but tape gets to be a mess if you ever need to remove the airbox.
