What might that be? My concern with trying to weld something is the intense heat required to do that.

I’d agree. If you’re not burning it like you would half inch plate, it’s not gonna be all that much heat to transfer anywhere it shouldn’t go.
Worst case, you need a new motor, or need to have that one rebuilt if you mess it up. That one looks like you’ve gotten your money’s worth outta it. Send it to PQ for a bandit upgrade and the new stud will come with it |
