I have variable inductors that are so old they have cotton insulation, yet they still work as well as the day they were built, but YES THEY HAVE MECHANICAL MOVING PARTS!!! However, the electrons experience NO MOVING PARTS. But let's not confuse the original poster with FACTS. |

Re: ITS / Pot Box.
I also have some old variable resistors that are probably more reliable than anything mounted in a buggy, but ELECTRICALLY, I'd consider it inferior to a variable inductor.

Re: ITS / Pot Box.
Judging from the responses I'm reading here from a few and in a some other threads on bgw Golf Cart site lately..... My guess is there is no good discussion board for retired engineers & frustrated electrical inventors? So now were it?

Rather than pointing out problems with ITS pedal, linkage, etc. you chose to point out how retarded my statement is. "How does somene bend that rod is what I want to know." Electrically, a variable resister (potentiometer) changes no faster than a variable inductor. If the controller responds to one faster than the other, that's the controller's problem. |

To make this useful to the original poster, is there something mechanical or electrical in the pedal, cable, linkage, etc. of the ITS that is more problematic than whatever is involved mechanically or electrically in a pot box? |

It's man made. It tears up if abused just like anything else. Both have there problems. Both have there good points. Just like a Chevy are Ford. I will take a pot box over a ITS any day myself. The resaon, I have better luck with them. |
