![]() Hi, I have an early 96 C.C. I'm sure its an early model, because there is no ignitor under the rev limiter. It quits running about half the time after it gets warmed up. I have unhooked the rev limiter wires, and it still does the same thing. I've read that the coils on these are seldom the problem. I need some advice here, if the cart still acts up after unhooking the rev limiter, does that rule it out and mean it's the coil? If it is the rev limiter, does anyone have one for sale? I assume that I have to replace it with an early 96 that has no ignitor? Any info will help. Thanks.

![]() if theres no ignitor behind the limitor than its a late 96......early 96 had the ignitor behind the limitor......so your ignitor is built into the coil and theres a good chance thats your problem...........i take it when it quits you have checked for spark or lack of it? if not thats 1st and if your spark plug is good and plug wire is good than i would suggest replacing the coil/ignitor combo........................

![]() Yes, checked and even replaced the plug just in case. Same results.

![]() Your engine is a Magneto or CDI ignition so it uses nothing to fire the coil but the flywheel.
The only thing hooked to it are things to stop fire by grounding it. Before you buy anything disconnect everything from the coil and run it until warm. If it shuts down again then replace the coil, if it continues to run without shutting off then you have an intermittent ground in the kill circuit, maybe low oil circuit. |
