brake light switch

Ok just put a light kit on my cart, brake lights do not work, the schematic shows a break light switch!! where is this located? I looked at the drawing for the pedal assembly and it does not show a switch on the brake.

The brake light switch is usually mounted under the floor on drivers side, attached to brake pedal at pivot point and in some cases there are 2 switches one under floor and one mounted on back of pedal to control emergency brake cut out. Your cart may not have come with either and you will have to install it or them?
PLEASE give year and model and pack voltage of cart when asking for help.

What kind of cart DS, Precedent, other, if there was no lights on it before and your kit did not come with the wiring and switch then you most likely do not have what you need to make the brake likes work as they are typically wired through a different circuit.

2006 precedent had harness to back of unit light kit came with harness for front and connected to stock harness unit had preinstalled tail light harness. my parts list shows no switch in the pictures or part listing wanted to be sure before pulling the floor mat and pedal assembly. running lights all work

Yea I under stand I need a switch again the parts breakdown has nothing so how do I order part # XXXXXX I have removed the pedal assembly it also looks like I need a bracket. anybody have one for sale!!!

I would recommend you just buy this one. This way you dont have to install the cut out switch for the park brake.

Here is a pic of under side of the pedal assembly, with bracket & switch.

I think you will also need to wire in a timer circuit that will shut the brake lights off after XXXX seconds. When the parking brake is set, the brake lights come on and would stay on the whole time the parking brake is on.
That is the way our Precedent is wired.

Ok thanks for the look at your setup did you make the bracket or is that stock.

Good point on the lights staying on all the time with e-brake on, Im thinking of using the key switch to turn off all the lights, small relay off the key switch will activate the cart and lights. The key switch is only 5vdc from/to the controller.

gaminde: the bracket came with the lighting kit. Good thought regarding shutting off all the lights. If I had it to do over I would sure look into one of the brake pedal switches as shown in post #7 by essness
