Default Governor Bypass

Ok, I have read through the sticky on bypassing the governor and have a question. I already have the nut all the way in and was just wondering how much of an improvement I would get by Totally bypassing it??
This is on a 1987 G2, fresh rebuilt motor, 4" lift, and 23" tires

Call Don or doug @ Plowmans Carts they will walk you through it. Don't know your long term goals but they know how to make yamahas go! They will set you up for whatever you want low end, or top end or all around!

I have plowmans info saved for future needs, Right now I am just looking for a little more speed around the house, The cart will be spending summers at our family property in the Uinta mountains, I am going to see how it does once I get it up there and then give Plowmans a call.

I make a small plate that has 2 holes spaced the same as the spread of the cables on the governor-arm.Then unhook the cables off the axle, and hook them both to the plate. No more Govenor, and you don't usually have to adjust anything either.

Do you want low end or top speed? My first upgrade was bypass gov. Since then I've done it dons way! I don't know if our carts function the same but if you drill out the arm of the governor and fine tune the cables you will be happy happy happy with the results!

Thanks Guys, I want decent speed for now, I am going to see how it does in the mountains this summer and then rethink things if needed.

Hey Jeff, the G2 has a rev limiter thats gonna kick in once the rpm's get to high. It's my understanding that bi passing the governor on a G2 doesn't get you much speed. Good luck

G9 spark box doesn't have the limiter. You will get a decent increase with the governor bypassed, not crazy, but much better, especially of road.

How thick of metal do you use for the plate?? I think this is the way I want to go so I can hook the governor back up if needed.
