Gonna take a "shot in the dark" here. Check that the red wire from the 10 A. fuse is connected to the proper terminal of the solenoid. (Actually it could connect directly to the battery positive). We had a problem once with this wire coming loose. Good luck - RAY

PS- Also try it after disconnecting the green and R/W wires to the voltage regulator to see if that helps. That will eliminate the V.R. as a problem.

thanks bigstik tried with no luck...so I've been on the phone with Yamaha Tech walking me through every test he can think of...We eliminated the key switch, solenoid, and pedal switch with one test which still lead to same results. I've changed the starter/gen with a running cart and tried the coil off of that same cart with no luck. Yamaha is going to talk with a few other senior techs and discuss what other test they can do and Im calling back in 1 1/2 hourto see what they come up with...just to keep everyone informed.

I may have missed it, did you check the voltage at the coil (negative/black and positive/orange) when cranking the engine over? Also, I have alway's liked to redo the negative battery cable "pigtail" at the starter generator connection (cut off the 18 gauge wire at the eye end) and put your own eye end on,reattatch to starter post and make shure the bullet connection is secure. Not really on G2's, on G9's Yamaha asked us to install a negative fuse lead assy, does this G2 have that ?, if so check the fuse. Sorry I couldn't have been more help.

Thanks for the reply bud...trust me any and all help is deeply appreciated, I tried those test and a couple more before tossing my wrenches and pulling out a bunch o hairs. When Yami tech came he unplugged voltage reg and motor turned over faster, giving him the impression the reg was bad and hinch fried the brand new cdi/igniter I put in so he says try ordering a new one and trying it with reg unhooked...I will def keep everyone posted and thanks again for the responses ;)

Update...The problem was that the voltage regulator was frying the CDI Unit...so eventually unplugging the voltage regulator and installing the new CDI Unit got my spark back...new voltage reg and CDI and the cart is running again...nightmare over...

The G2, doesn't it have the old points contacts? What does the G9 have? The 8 has the solid state type regulator.
