Default By pass or Modifying

Just picked up a G16 and have been reading here on what I need to do to her. My question is, what is better modifying governor or by pass.

By-passing the gov., it is possable to blow up the motor by over reving. So you need a tach. or need to listen, and know when its doing so. Turning up the gov., doesn't give you quite as much speed, but is "some what" safer in the long run.

I agree,It depends on who is using the cart too,If its' just you,you know when to let-off,etc..If its' being ridden, by kids,neighbors,etc..Tighten the adjustment up all the way and leave it connected,It will limit as it should, prevent over-rev,and still run around 20mph.Hope this helps.

Bypass all my governors and let my foot govern. Shouldn't have any problem unless you run it full throttle down a hill for long periods of time. Just be mindful of your rpm's and use common sense. And be sure to keep your oil changed with some good 10w30 on a regular basis. It only uses one quart so maintenance is pretty inexpensive. Never ever put anything thick in the engine. No oil treatments, etc... These engines use a splash system to oil and its a little difficult to splash molasses.

Run 10w30 Synthetic.Splash-Lube engines live far longer on it,over regular oils. Many years of Go-Kart racing back this up.

I would be the only one using the cart. I am really not worried about top speed, I am looking for torque for running in the woods and hills.
