Default U-Max Pro Hauler 07' with no pulling power.

The cart takes about 30 seconds for it to even start moving once the gas pedal is pressed, even on a flat surface. Once you get going if you hit a slope the motor started oscillating and later it started jittering and backfiring. Once stopped, it would move a little forward but in a lot of strain. Put it in reverse and it would move stop, move stop in small increments. It did roll free in Neutral.

Installed a fresh battery, the cart runs but just doesn't seem to have the power like it used to. Thinking possibly something with the fuel or fuel system. Any ideas?

Drain fuel and add new. Check spark plug and replace if in question. Check air filter.

Read this site, then start maintenance and tune-up.

Yamaha section, "Buggies Gone Wild". Read the whole Yamaha site, you will learn tune up, clutch maint. and just tons about your car. The better the car is maintained, the better it will perform!

With what your describing, don't know if the motor is running or not, or if its a clutch problem.

The starter turns automatically when the pedal is pressed on a golfcart. If it will not take off it is because the engine is not running, only the starter is turning. Try a tuneup as suggested and see what happens. Also note if your drive belt is 1" wide it needs to be replaced.

You have indicated that the cart runs but no power. Make sure your clutches are articulating properly. They may need servicing (clean and 2 pumps only of grease) or inspect for flat rollers. Proper clutch operation is a must for good performance. Other maintenance as others reported is also important. Report findings - RAY

Thanks guys. Mike I will definitely read up on it. This is a friends cart, so I'm kind of learning as I go. I did find out it's a 357cc yamaha engine, I'm assuming its a one cylinder............

The guy that owns the cart did in fact grease everything recently, although he pumped way more than two shots in the clutch (bronze in color, on driver side of engine). We changed the spark plug, fuel filter, fuel pump, and I even dropped the bowl of the carb to make sure there wasn't any trash in it. It would take off fine but when you hit a slope it starts to "spark knock" and shutter as if something is in a bind.

Sounds like it was over greased. Now grease is all over the belt, sheaves and needs to be cleaned off. Should have only been 2 pumps at the most. I only do one half pump when I do mine. But do it more often.
