Default Checking Brake Cables

Tried searching but no luck. 2008 EZGO Txt . Trying to determine if my cables are working properly or if they need replacing. Removed both from the cart, cleaned and oiled both. When pulling the cable there is some resistance, the spring does pull the cable back. No access to a new cable to see the difference. So if I comparing to my bicycle cables which have no resistance (apples and grapefruits). My concern is when reinstalling will the resistance increase with the bends and make the brakes work poorly. The brakes did not work well before I started the rebuild but i have not removed the drums yet for inspection. Would rather not replace a part that is working properly.

The pedal did return without issues before I removed the cables.

thanks in advance

Did you download the manual from stickies here.
It will take you thru the brake “system” trouble shooting guide.
Really need to check make all brake adjustments in proper order to troubleshoot brakes.😊
