Default Headlights wired to the pack

Sorry, I am sure this question has been asked a million times. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a 2017 RXV that I recently purchased from a private party. The cart was a fleet cart but was refurbished to be used as a neighborhood cart by a local golf cart shop. The cart has aftermarket LED headlights and taillights. The lights are wired directly to the pack. Is this okay?

The cart also has a 30a DPI voltage reducer that is also wired directly to the pack. The only thing that appears to be connected to it is a USB phone charger. Why are the lights not connected to the voltage reducer?

I have unplugged the reducer for now and will be installing a toggle.
Should I also run the lights off the reducer or is it okay to leave them connected to the pack?

Depends on the lights and how they are wired. If they are wired to the entire pack it won’t hurt. If they are on just a couple of batteries they need to be moved. Might be that way because the converter shuts off depending on the key.

Many LED kits are designed to run on anything from 12 to as much as 60 volts. The LED's don't mind it but can't do turn signal flashers and horn (often included in the "street legal" type of kits) on that higher voltage. For simplicity sake I would move the lights to run off of the DC converter. Someday someone other than you may work on it.

Are the lights wired directly to one battery or the entire pack? If just one battery, I personally would relocate the wiring to the 12V output on the reducer.

They are wired to the pack, not one battery. I wasn’t aware that light kits were able to run off of 48V. I’ll just leave it alone for the time being.
