Help upgrading 2003
So I recently bought a 2003 ezgo txt 36V. It runs about 11-12 miles an hour on a full charge.
I’m looking to start upgrading but have no idea where to even start the batterys are 2 year old Trojans. Looking for suggestions on what I should do? Convert it to 48v? Lift kit? New controller, motor, solenoid? If so which ones do you suggest? I’m looking for it to run 20 plus. Last edited by Jcherry; 04-02-2020 at 05:06 PM.. Reason: Wrong year |

Re: Help upgrading 2003
What Drive system does it have? Under the seat on the passenger side how many boxes? 1 or 2 with one of those having a rod going to the shifter. Or is fnr on the dash

Re: Help upgrading 2003
You have a series drive system.
The published top speed for a 2003 TXT series drive cart is 13-14 MPH, so at 11 - 12 MPH your cart is a little on the slow side. Probably due to bad cables, connections and contacts in a 17 year old cart, maybe underinflated tires also. With a perfect set of cables, F/R switch, solenoid and controller, your cart might do about 13.5 MPH and if so, going to 48V will up the speed by 33.3% to 17.9 MPH. Then add a set of tire that are 20.5" tall and it will do 20.4MPH. If you go above 20.5 on tire height, the cart will have to be lifted, which raises the center of gravity on a narrow track, short wheelbase vehicle. Here's some good reading on cart upgrades ans well as a good source for the components: https://www.cartsunlimited.net/upgrade-suggestions.html |

Re: Help upgrading 2003
They were also available as "Freedom" models from ezgo, with a faster motor (around 18mph) & factory lights. The "Freedom" model even existed at the end of the Marathon lineup (but I'm not sure that one got the faster motor). I'm not suggesting this example is a Freedom model, just clarifying that there were faster models offered from the factory (in both Series & Sepex).
Heres the motor tag from the Ezgo "series high speed motor", if anyone were wondering. Notice how it says "hi-spd" where the standard motor says "flt-spd". |
