Default 12v with 8 volt batteries accessory, how?

We have a 48 volt shuttle at work and they want me to install horns on all carts for saftey.

Is there a transformer/voltage converter on a Mid 2000 TXT Ezgo 4 seater?
I dont know the exact year but the serial number is below the charge port, 2733636 if anyone knows how to read the number.

Or will it be an aftermarket addition? If so I will need to order but they may want to rig something in the mean time. I told them to park it till finish and was laughed at....

Your best bet will be to purchase a 48 to 12v converter. They are common items in the golf cart world. Check with site sponsors.

In the very short term, the horns probably will be fine on 8v.

Ironically, I did this to settle down the Safety Patrol here. Its a diaphragm horn so it growls more than honks but it will do until a voltage reducer can be procured. When they inspect, away from the shop floor's noisy machines, it will be fine. Give me time to do right later...

Thanks for the help

Other option is buy an 8 volt horn or close. I know 6 volt horns exist so would be worth a try.

I have some 12V horns and I can run those from 16V. Conversely you can connect two 12v horns in series to need 24V and run that from three of the 8v batteries.

If I get any more grief about the horn not being loud enough, I'm definitely doing this!! Never considered it, heck i can do it to the 36v units also.

I don't know how long they'd last, but my son's 20v lithium power wheels will run 12v horns... I've only done it for testing though, not tried 'real use'... But that's much more extreme than running a 12v horn on 16v.
