Definitely have to remove the column. Some of the bushings have to go on the bottom of the column as well as the top.

its might be a pain you should remove front body.look at the diagram take the top bolt out of #1 and loosen the bolts around the steering column even with the front off it can be a pain in the arse. always use a puller never a hammer on steering wheels

With my front cowl off it was a cinch. The hardest part was figuring it all out as I went. Pullers are nice, my local auto parts stores didn't have one that would fit. Good ole' rubber mallet. Started lightly and then tapped harder and harder in a circle until it popped right off.

When putting wheel back on - No need to crank down on the steering wheel nut. It's a lock nut so it only needs to be tightened until the wheel stops wiggling and doesn't move around. Makes the next removal much easier.
