Re: Older Club Car 36-48v conversion?
yes ... with lift and bigger tires you need to upgrade to a good controller
first carts are always a test and we all say i can upgrade anything .. it's the cost that stops us lets say you get the cart $500 .. add the 36v batteries $600 (my area ) scotty charger $300 your at $1400 for a good cart that will do what you want now the add ons 4" lift $200 tire and wheel deal $450 (the ones i want ) controller (400amp) $400 then you need better cables and hd f/r switch $200 if you go 48v they run $800 around $2500~$3000 see it adds up |

Re: Older Club Car 36-48v conversion?
Absolutely agree. I don't want to drop a ton on it initially and never see any of it it back when I flip it this summer. But I'd like to enjoy it while I have it, too.
Current plan: 1 Batteries (of course) 2 Lift and wheels/tires 3 Then controller (don't tell my wife it would be fine without one), and see where it's at. |

Re: Older Club Car 36-48v conversion?
Ha! Absolutely.
Charger is in the works. Not much on the used scene around here right now... But spring is around the corner. So, I went and picked it up today. Better shape than I had hoped for. Has a bit of damage to the dash support on the passenger side and needs a new front body piece. But has nice seats, a new folding windshield, and looks 100% complete. Not bad for $150. Where do I get a new "hood" for not a lot of scratch? |

Mike dmt..great deal on the cart. Ctd is right on point with no. 4
Go dpi on the charger, but seriously think about 48v now so you dont buy another charger later. Charger costs the samd so u are only out 2 more batteries. Have fun with the build |

Re: Older Club Car 36-48v conversion?
Here it is. The top and windshield frame is off, and well as the hood, (obviously).
The guy I got it from had gotten it for free, and decided to clean out his shop. Supposedly it was parked when the front got smacked up, and was being used up until that time. Here's a long shot: He never tried to charge the batteries. The water level is low on all of them, and I cant find a date on them. What are the chances they could be good(low I'm sure, but... ), what should I do first to find out?? Ya, I know my shop is a mess.... Just got it insulated, and am getting drywall shortly. If I can stop buying stuff like broken carts.... |
