Re: Ancient cart slow
Ok, what am I looking for voltage-wise?
And would that explain a slow *** cart? |

Re: Ancient cart slow
Is there any upgrades to do with the switches or solenoids to squeeze more speed?

Re: Ancient cart slow
It could, because the faster solenoids are not engaging. You should be able to use the Ohm setting and see if the circuit opens and closes with the click.

Re: Ancient cart slow
The "faster in reverse" issue may be part of the problem as well

Re: Ancient cart slow
I'd be super happy with that. I'll wait to upgrade the next cart to really move. This one is just to get my feet wet... lol...
So, I'll test the MS's, and from there, I think I'll test the solenoids. |

Re: Ancient cart slow
Maybe. It jumps in reverse, but I'm probably wrong to say faster. It just engages earlier in the pedal than going forward.

Re: Ancient cart slow
So, it looks like 1 of the MS's are bad. How do I test the solenoids? And where is a good place to get replacements if needed?

Re: Ancient cart slow
Put your negative lead on the main pack negative, then the positive on one of the big terminals on the solenoid. One will always have power, the other will have power after it clicks. Test with cart in neutral and key on. Push down on the pedal to test each one.
May not be a bad idea to have the rear in the air on jack stands in case something goes awry. Your local CC dealer should have them, or order from a site sponsor. |

Re: Ancient cart slow
I will work on it more tomorrow. How many volts should be present at the motor at WOT? And which lugs on the motor do I check?
The battery wires look crappy, could I be losing a lot of voltage due to old wires? |
