how do I test the mcor as my cart is surging after 16 holes of golf
I have a 2011 precedent club car with 6x8 batteries
when golf is finished my cart is still reading 48.2v

48.2V means it's time to charge the batteries. Are these the original batteries? Make sure to check the water level and that the connections are clean and tight. Charge it and then check the voltage 12 hours after the charger turns off. It should be 50.8V or higher.

still reading 48.2 volts? Is not a good thing....

At that voltage you have dropped below the 50 % state of charge and by all rights in need of serious recharge and just entering the realm of causing life shorting damage to the battery.... If you are starting out on a full charge and life seems good and the further into your game the surging starts it simply sounds to me like your battery are past their prime.... Check your water levels and correct to keep all plated covered 1/4" to 3/8" with distilled water, check all terminals and cable connections for corrosion and tightness, fully charge the battery pack. If still unable to make a full game its time for batteries....

yes original batteries only surges after 16 and only for a short time ie half way up the 17th then come good u maybe right with the batteries. I will check state of charge prior to my round in the morning u say they should read 50.2

Well no 50.2 would only be roughly 85 % SOC which might be all your going to get out of 4+ year old battery; especially if you bought the cart from fleet use... Depending on brand full 100 % SOC should read 50.9 to 51.2 volts...

You say only surges half way up the 17th? Is that an uphill incline and after that downhill or least flat?

Also if your not already doing it keep your cart plugged into its charger anytime your not riding it.... This will net you a longer battery life....

the batteries are 3 and bit years old and the charger stays on and yes it was a fleet cart.
played today and was the only one in the cart but nor surging but tested the batteries with the multi meter up the 17th and readings were standing still 48.6 moving 46.5 and uphill 41.4- 43.6 not good I would say
