Default Just bought a used buggy. Have questions

I've been looking to build up a hunting buggy so I've been on the search for a used cart for under $1,000 (working or not). This morning I saw this one pop up 20 miles from my parents house and got my dad to go pick it up for me. $500. I know it's an EZ GO but I have no idea what year or any other information about it. Came with a charger but was told it needed new batteries. I will be there this weekend to look at it and get the serial. Does anyone know about what year this might be?

It's at least a 2001. It's worth $500 running or not.

2001.5 saw the rack&pinion steering move to the front axle as shown and it is a series drive cart. Series carts make more torque. I'd say you did real good. Nice platform for a hunting buggy

Consider 6/8v batteries for 48v operation right now since you need batteries.

Hey Scotty, I am new to buggies. Are all EZ GO's 36V or are some 48v? Would upgrading the controller/motor be something I should look into as well?

This cart was 36v. Upgrading to 48v means more torque and speed.

Just get out the notepad. 48v in Batteries, charger, controller, solenoid, new main high current wires and if if it were me, a reversing contactor.. Then the new body, lift, wheels/tires, rear seat etc etc etc...

And it looks like you got a passenger in the deal..

Hi Alan, there are a few questions/answers you should be thinking about as you communication starts.
ok, we know you are wanting to make a HUNTING BUGGY, SO....think "worst case", as in the most punishment you will put your cart through. so just to get you started and thinking....

1. where you are going with your cart....is it Hilly? Flat? rocky? or will you be on dirt roads? or actually out in the woods?

2. How far will you need your cart to go on a daily trip out hunting?

3. How many people will you haul? 2, 3, 4??

4. If you "BAG THE BIG ONE" ..... how much weight will be on the cart along with the people??

All of those things need to be considered so that your cart will perform for you "FIORST TIME EVERYTIME" and not leave you stranded.

These are excellent questions. The area I hunt at is mostly flat but there are some very steep areas that I would like to be able to get to. So in this worst case scenario. It would just be me on a very steep hill with a 200lb deer loaded up. I'm around 170lbs so call it 400lbs with a bag/stand/bow at that type of angle. 20 miles would be sufficient on a charge as I probably wouldn't travel half that distance regularly.
