Ok made a short video of turning driven clutch by hand
It sounds like its on too tight or has a bad bearing
Did not notice any up/down or side to side play when I wiggled it
Do I need to take clutch off and check it
Belts are new also

While I was making and posting the video
I saw a video of someone doing a 92 cc driven clutch
and the belt he put on it had the ribs facing up
is that how the belt should be installed

Is mine installed backwards?

The hand turned video sounds horrible and defiantly NOT normal!
Can you tell if the clutch is rubbing on the transaxle case?
if it's not... you have internal transaxle problems!

IF... your drive belt only has ribs (cogs) one side of the belt, they should be in, and the smooth side out!

Thanks lockman1 I thought the same about how it sounds
The newly installed clutch seems to have free space all around it but since its in a recessed area i can't see or get into where the bolt is tightened
The parts diagram only shows a washer near the head of the retaining bolt
Could it somehow be pushed in too far and touching the case?
Am I going to have to tear this apart to replace a bearing?

There doesn't seem to be any play in the shaft when I try to wiggle it

But the noise

Is it fixable and could I do it or do I have to find another transaxle?

we have turf 2 carryalls at our golf course and the noise you describe sounds like when the bearings went out in the starter generator, take a short length of wood dowel and hold to your ear and generator with it running, also if you replace the generator use a club car factory replacement as the aftermarket ones do not have the same power and will cause a problem with a delayed start condition.

Mike?
shoot a little bit of spray lubricant (WD-40, Silicone etc.) in the recessed area between the case and clutch,
and see if the noise quiets down while hand turning the driven clutch,
if it does? then it's rubbing on the transaxle case, (I'm not sure why)
if it doesn't quiet down, you may have a bad input shaft bearing. (transaxle tear down)

Yes its Mike
Thanks for the replies
Great idea about the spray lube. I'll go out and do it now.
The noise seems to be coming from right at the pulley like it is rubbing on the back of pulley. You can kind of tell that in the video.

Can the driven clutch be pushed on too far?
I'm thinking of removing clutch and turning shaft by hand to see if it makes noise. I'm just afraid of damaging it since it was put on a couple of weeks ago.
I've seen threads about how stuck they can get.

Any tips on taking it off without prying on case

Ok I'm going out to spray Wd-40

They're only difficult to remove after they've been on for years! (rust, corrosion etc.),
but, since it was just replaced... it should slide right off the input shaft!

patiently waiting for results....

Great idea but no-go
Same noise and I must say I can feel the grinding communicating through the metal of the pulley it seems like it's right there

Watched a you-tube video rebuilding this and it looks doable but not in December. My work area is outdoors in yard.
