Re: Bypassing Club Car IQ OBC
Thanks Sergio. I wasn't disagreeing with you, just saying that I've always done it the other way and it works. After reading your detailed explanation (as always) I think I'll change my procedure.

Re: Bypassing Club Car IQ OBC
I know You were not, I can honestly say that I have learned a lot about Club Cars from reading Your posts.
I do have a long back ground in the technology field and enjoy the troubleshooting aspect of these carts. |

Re: Bypassing Club Car IQ OBC
Sergio, I'd assume that it wouldn't matter if the controller was stock or aftermarket correct, just thinking of any possibility of some brand-X may be different and use that input for another function also.

Re: Bypassing Club Car IQ OBC
I got my new DPI charger in today and I have just a couple more questions before I get started. When I go to bypass my OBC, do I reconnect the wiring harness after I splice the white and blue wires or do I leave it disconnected from the OBC? Also, the manual that came with the charger says it has 4 different modes. It says to use Mode 4 for Crown/AGM batteries. I have Crown CR190 flooded batteries. What mode should I set the charger to? It is currently set to Mode 2.
Thanks |

Re: Bypassing Club Car IQ OBC
You will no longer be using the OBC, You can cut the plug off the OBC and use it to make the connection between the Blue and White wires.
There is a new sticky now with pictures on how to take the Deutsche 6-pin connector apart. If You cut the wires off on the harness side, there is no reason to plug the OBC back. I would imagine You want the mode 4 on the DPI charger for the crown batteries. |

These are the adsorption voltages for the DPI charger. See what the manufacturer recommends for your batteries.

Re: Bypassing Club Car IQ OBC
I have a 2003 CC DS IQ that has a bad OBC. I will be ordering a new 17amp DPI Accusense smart charger. But, before I move forward with bypassing my OBC, I want to double check my plans with you all and also possibly help illustrate the procedure for others with a similar task ahead of them. Click on attachment to enlarge the photo for details…
IMG_4696.jpg 1) Unplug the 6 pin connector that connects the OBC to the cart’s harness 2) Cut wires the blue wire (C) & white wire (D) and solder them together 3) Cut the black wire (E) and pull it through to the battery compartment and attach to battery bank negative. Am I missing anything? Do I need to do anything to the gray fused wire that comes out of the charge receptacle? Thanks for any advice/correction! |
