Default inexpensive chargers and voltage converter

I need a charger for my 1984 36v 3 wheeled EZ-GO. Cand drop $300+ on one. Anyone used one of these?
Amazon.com : 36 Volt Battery Charger Golf Cart, 36v Charger for Club Car & Others, G3605cc : Sports & Outdoors Amazon.com : 36 Volt Battery Charger Golf Cart, 36v Charger for Club Car & Others, G3605cc : Sports & Outdoors
Also, I need a voltage reducer to run headlights and a small radio. Is 20 amp large enough or do I need something bigger? Trying not to sink too much money into this cart as it's just temporary until I can afford a newer gas cart

did you read the reviews on that charger? i wouldnt touch it. 20a should be enough amps for dc convertor as long as the radio is not excessive with amp/subs and stuff.

I live by the "rather have and not need than need and not have" check out cartsunlimited.com. scottyb has a 30 amp that I'm sure is solid. If I had to do all over I would get that one. I have a madjax 30 amp. I have run my stereo, both sets of rigid LEDS and my 26 gal spot sprayer at once with no problems. I just bit the bullet and put all new batterys in and want them to last so i got a DPI. Its just under 300 but well worth it by the looks of it and comparing. I dont want to have to buy new batts any time soon. Just my .02.

Check ebay there are deals to be found, I just bought a Curtis brand voltage converter there last week for about $50, it was new old stock in a distressed box, the same model sells as refurbs on ebay for $225, all it takes is some digging. As of last week there was also an older official EZ-GO marathon converter kit complete with mounting brackets and separate fuse block for about $75

I was given a charger with the cart but it doesn't work. Plugged it in to the wall and turned the timer knob and it hummed. Plugged it into the cart and got a loud pop and a bright flash. Are these chargers repairable? Is it cost-effective to repair vs buying a new/used one?

You want an automatic charger not one with a timer.

While I'm sure that's true, I already have the one with the timer

perhaps you should just use a stick of dynamite with a long fuse....damaged batteries are in your near future....

Unless it's a LesterMatic with a timer. That timer only enables the charger to run 12 hours. If the pack reaches full charge before the timer runs down the charge function will cease. Other chargers with a timer will not behave this way.
