1981 Club Car Upgrade Speed
Hello Everyone,
This weekend I am a brand new owner of an old 1981 Club Car. The Car works swell other then the top speed being at a mere 10MPH. which is doable but I would like to bring it up to around 20. I have some experience with electrical engineering but I am not an expert. So with that beeing said here is the diagram to my car. NOTE: I tried to post an image with the wiring diagram but must wait 7 days per the forum rules. The diagram is located in the Wiring Diagram sticky thread. The motor is an MT32006 I believe by Hitachi at 36v and outputs 2HP at 2KW. From my understanding this whole car is Analog and contain's no digital ECU/CPU/Brains and is completely controlled by a Pedal / Potentiometer and resister coils with the relays in series (correct me if I'm wrong :] ). So the best way to upgrade from I assume but am up for suggestions is to swap the motor with a 36V motor that is rated at a higher horse power but it will require more ampage to pass through the resistor coils at low speed that may burn the coils or even the relays. So if I upgrade does it seem that I will need to replace the Coil's, The relays and the motor / batteries? I am up for suggestions. POST SCRIPT: I tired doing a search on this topic but I got a bunch of irrelevant post. If you have one I can review I will be glad to take a look. Thanks everyone, -Agent |

Re: 1981 Club Car Upgrade Speed
The system is a series of micro switches, solenoids, and resistor coils. Marginally engineered for the game of golf using 35 yr old technology.
To increase performance significantly it will need a solid state drive system. For more information about the original system and how it can be upgraded Go here > http://www.cartsunlimited.net/why-co...-drive---.html |
