Default 1973 Caroche KingPins

Hi guys,
I finished taking the front end apart today, and found the kingpins pretty badly worn. As you can see in the photo attached.

Has anyone changed there out, and have a supplier for new ones?

Thanks in advance,
Aflyer

hmmmmm, you may be looking at a machine shop to make some new ones....

That could be a tough find.
Also, I wonder if those might be different than a standard Caroche?
That car came with narrow street tires, I wonder if the front suspension might be a little "beefier" for those.

Not a big problem but it may cost a few bucks. Any good machine shop can powder spray them and then turn back down to original size. Called metal powder spray welding.

Kashmir,
They are the same as shown in the Caroche parts list. I was thinking about buying regular later model club car kingpins, and having the top plates welded on them.

55BigBlock,
That sounds like the perfect solution. I will look into that. I was thinking about welding and turning it down to size.

But, metal powder spray welding sounds like just what I need to have done.

Thank you guys,

Hi guys,
Here is an update on my Caroche Kingpin saga.

I couldn't find anybody to powderspray and turn down the old ones, first picture.

So I bought two new Club car kingpins and had a local machine shop modify them to look and work like the originals. Photo 2 and 3. I just need to have the lock tabs welded on.

The last picture is what I was able to buy from David, my Club Car supplier of choice. If I remember correctly this is listed as a 1974+ Caroche Kingpin.

Looks good Aflyer.
Now I would take your spindles, new bushings and those new pins to the shop
and have them press in the bushings and ream to fit the new pins.
The will slide so smooth and have zero play in them!
At least mine did on my DS.

Raystar57,
You got it, that is the plan as soon as I get a couple more things ready I will head to the welders.

Once the locating tabs are welded I will be changing the bushings and getting them reamed for alignment.

I might even use the **** zerk fittings and grease it, so these pins last longer, LOL.

Thank you,
Aflyer
