Got new batteries Next steps for more speed!
As stated in the title I got new batteries last week and took the cart off to tailgating this weekend. It was ok around the camp ground but on the main road 10 to 12 mph was a little scary.
After looking a signatures and reading I'm looking at ordering the following from scottyb. First the cart: 2007 EZ-GO series F/R behind the feet. New Crown CR-220 14" rims/backlash tires measures 19" tall back seat HD rear leaf spring. Ordering: SR 48300 w/ 200 amp solenoid HD F/R switch 4 Gauge cable kit In dash battery meter I'm looking for more MPH. What can I expect not holding anyone to a Number? Did i miss anything? Thanks Bax |

Re: Got new batteries Next steps for more speed!
With stock height tires and good 36V battery pack and amp delivery system, a series drive cart typically does 14 MPH on a hard level surface.
The 19" tires will up the speed by 5.6% and reduce torque by 5.3%, so your cart ought to do almost 15MPH, however if the tires are the low pressure type (<10 PSI max inflation pressure), it might not reach normal stock speed on level ground. The rear seat will also keep speed down, especially if it is occupied. Going to a 42V pack will increase speed (and torque) by 16.7%, or 17.3MPH. Going to a 48V pack will increase speed (and torque) by 33.3%, or 19.7MPH. |

Re: Got new batteries Next steps for more speed!
Thanks Johnnieb. The tires have max. inflation of 35psi according to the side wall. I have them at 15psi now.
Generally carrying four. So looks like 18 mph or so will require a new motor. If i put just a high speed motor will it burn up the stock electronics? Bax Last edited by SC_BAX; 09-26-2017 at 06:57 PM.. Reason: spelling |

Re: Got new batteries Next steps for more speed!
with the 300 amp controller you will pretty much limit what you will be able to do down the road.
considering you have the rear seat, and could potentially be carrying as many as 3 extra passengers.....I would recommend the following: SR48400 PLUS the 400 amp solenoid (PKG 484B) or SR48500 with the 400 amp solenoid (PKG 485) and a set of Scottyb's 2 ga. cables. you already mentioned you want to get one of his HD F&R switches. IF for some reason your cart still isn't fast enough.....you can make the jump to 48v by adding 2 more batteries (seeing as how you just bought new 6v).....all of the above upgraded electronics can run 36 or 48.....so its a easy switch. I just did it with mine. you can see in my sig.....the difference is I have 23" tires and currently I am running 48v. My cart was topping out at 25 mph (36v).....now it tops out at 30 mph (48v). you also will notice I have a High Speed motor. Scotty also sells those as well (similar but not the exact motor I have). |

Re: Got new batteries Next steps for more speed!
Thanks Sir Nuke, I looked at sr 48400 to begin with.
I'll probably go with that package. I'm going to email scottyb before I order just to be sure on the cart/part are right. When I get them installed I will report back with butt-dyno and GPS info. Thanks Bax |

when you talk to scotty, tell him you want some more speed....and you will want to jump to 48v eventually. he will steer you in the right direction. |

Re: Got new batteries Next steps for more speed!
I have the package from scottyb. Man that was fast thanks scottyb!!
So I'm taking pictures and planning the install, which will happen next week gotta work and family events, and found this guy not plugged in.(see Pic) Can you guys help me out? Maybe a plug for the charger? Sir Nuke will definitely up grade to 42V. I think that space under the driver sea will do nicely for the extra battery. Bax |

Re: Got new batteries Next steps for more speed!
Anyone who has a 36v series motor system, and upgrades their system to 48v (if everything else were the same) would get a instant boost of 33% more speed and 33% more torque. This is assuming you already had a controller and solenoid capable of the switch from 36 to 48, and nothing else changed. If you bought a bigger controller (to replace your stock 36v controller), and upgraded to 48v, you would get a much bigger torque increase, and still a 33% speed increase.
